Higher Ed Hero Presents: MashEd Up
We’ll be giving our presentation on mashups today in coordination with the good people over at Higher Ed Hero. For those of you unfamiliar with mashup territory, here’s a short introduction:
Now, that’s probably not the alumni network social media aggregator walk-through you might have been expecting, but one of the major things we try to get across with “MashEd Up” is that the possibilities for what you can do with this kind of technology are limitless. What does kiddie rock/pop star crossover Miley Cyrus have to do with legendary East Coast rapper Biggie Smalls? Not a lot. The unlikely combination, however, gives us something of surprising value. That’s the mindset we think people should use when looking at these sorts of tools. Take stock of the resources you have at your disposal both inside and outside your institution and try to create something useful. Remember, as the rule goes in music: make the music you’d want to hear, so it goes with mashups: make the mashup you would use.
