Doug Gapinski Creative Director

I am a creative director at mStoner. My role is to work with strategists, designers, and writers on how things are structured, what things look like, and what things say. By things I mean brand research, websites, enrollment publications, email, logos, video projects, interviews, and photo shoots.
It’s also my job to make sure our work follows best practices for each medium. Whatever form the project takes, it has to paint an appealing and accurate picture of an institution. My goal is always to make sure the work is powerful enough to get somebody to act on an idea, or at least powerful enough to change how they think about something. Otherwise, what’s the point?

Why do you work for a company that serves the educational sector?
The mission of most educational institutions is to help people specialize (see graduate schools), help them think critically (see liberal arts or independent schools), or help them accomplish some kind of personalized goal (see community colleges). It’s easy for me to work for places with these kinds of goals.
What do you do in your spare time?
My wife is fanatical about vacation and food, and by association I travel very well and eat very well. I love microbrews, postmodern literature, scary movies, vintage video games, and working out like a maniac.
